78 Saab walk the creative tightrope between classic rock and pop with a unique style of song writing that has won critical acclaim from both media and fans alike.

The Sydney four piece first burst onto the Australian music scene a few years back when they released their debut EP, ‘Eastwards By Removal'. Soon after they embarked on a 40 date national tour that took them to all corners of the country - this established the band as one of best on the live circuit.

They quickly began sharing the stage of sold out venues with artists like Something For Kate, Guided By Voices, Pacifier and You Am I.   National radio network Triple J soon embraced the bands classic style, demonstrating their appreciation by adding all of the band's singles to high rotation as they hit one after the next. By now, with just two singles and 2 EP's under their belt, 78 Saab had solidified their position as one of most lauded acts in the music community.

From here the band released their debut album ‘ Picture a Hum, Can't Hear a Sound' - earning them rave reviews and fans across the board. They mixed psychedelic guitars with layered melodic rhythms, swinging between rock epics and sparser acoustic moments. The uniquely fresh vocal style of singer Ben Nash, cleverly linked the songs into one collection that befit the band's unique style.   The live shows continued to gain attention, and more supports followed with the likes of Spiderbait, Magic Dirt and The Vines all opening up the doors to their tour buses.

Soon after 78 Saab wrote and recorded the enchanting, ‘No Illusions', making this number six to hit high rotation at Triple J. The song was also quickly snapped up as a feature on the TV series ‘The Secret Life of Us' and appears on the cd soundtrack. The Triple J network went on to include it on their ‘Home and Hosed' program compilation cd - highlighting them as one of the best new Australian bands.

With their feet firmly established in the midst of great new Australian music, 78 Saab signed with local label Ivy League Records (The City Lights, Neon, Youth Group, The Stands) and began writing and recording their follow up album ‘Crossed Lines' late last year. Working with producer and long time friend Tim Whitten (Powderfinger, Hoodoo Gurus, Art of Fighting), The album embodies the band's musical history beyond the independent formings of their youth and propels them skyward to a place seemingly infinite. With stand outs ‘Beat of Your Drum' , ‘Cops' and the first single to radio – ‘Come On', the band have stepped forth with a collection of timeless songs, classic harmonies and clever construction that breezes in on the wind and whips up the mightiest of storms in the way you always knew they could.

Already added to high rotation at Triple J ‘Come On' has been saturating the airwaves for the last six weeks and has hit #15 on Triple J's Net 50 - it is also one of the biggest songs added at Alternate radio this month. This has only once again generated overwhelming anticipation for the release of their forthcoming album…

‘Crossed Lines' is unleashed in Spring 2004 on Ivy League Records.
